ECL client, the City of Westlake has been recognized as the
Top Green Shop winner by Fleet Equipment magaizne. This
is a true testament to the efforts that the City puts into
minimizing and managing their wastes and operations.
Congratulations to everyone at Westlake for this
well-deserved award!

The TODAY show ran a piece this morning on mold contractors
and their methods. It was timely because I got a request from a
client to look at a mold issue in a home in suburban Cleveland.
That request was accompanied by a letter from the municipality
demanding that a "mold assessment company" licensed by the
municipality perform an assessment.
It is important to seperate the services provided by contractors
from those provided by consultants. Sometimes a consultant is
not necessary, but with mold there is a great value in calling in a
consultant. Oftentimes the consultant can "troubleshoot" the
issue, collect samples (if and only if needed) and provide some
guidance for additional actions. In the NBC example, ECL would
have pointed out that there was no apparent water damage on
the wall or floor and have been really really suspect of the black
spots on the wall. And we would not recommend "bleach,
bleach, bleach." The chlorine can be as much an irritant as the
mold!
